Turkey Chili

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound turkey, ground
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion , diced
  • 1 (15 ounce can) tomato sauce
  • 1 (14.5 ounce can) diced tomato
  • 1 (7 ounce can) diced green chiles
  • 1 (15 ounce can) kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce can) black beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1-2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

    DIRECTIONS

    • To make this chili, start by cooking ground turkey and onion in a skillet over medium heat until the onion is soft and the turkey is cooked through. Add garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, then transfer the mixture to a crockpot.
    • Add all the other ingredients to the crockpot and stir to combine. Cook on low heat for 4-6 hours.
    • Alternatively, you can add the cooked turkey and onion to a large pot or dutch oven. Cook chopped onion in the pot until softened. Drain any excess moisture from the meat and add garlic, cooking for another 30 seconds.
    • Stir in all the other ingredients and bring the chili to a simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes. Serve with your favorite toppings.
